Monday Night Football Wild West Blockbuster Tonight- FREE WINNING PICKS

October 19, 2009 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

Picks4Players remains hot picking winners ATS (against the spread).  While one of our 5 star plays tanked (Philadelphia and who in their right mind would’ve put money on the Raiders) we were solid in putting our necks on the line and taking Kansas City and accurately predicting the Ravens to cover at Minnesota.  In fact our prediction of Baltimore winning outright was set to happen but the Ravens’ field goal attempt sailed wide left as time expired.

With another solid weekend ATS (against the spread) your partners here at P4P continue to climb in the standings of Pro Football Weekly’s National Handicapper’s Bowl.  Picks4Players is currently in 2nd place for the season and closing fast on the top spot  picking games against the spread in the wild, wacky, and highly unpredictable National Football League.  To follow our progress in the NHB please click on the link www.nhbowl.com/Games.php

In tonight’s Monday Night match-up, the 5-0 Denver Broncos, with their recently vacated Bandwagon completely refilled, roll into Southern California to face a desperate and explosive San Diego Charger team.  The Broncos bandwagon has swayed the number tonight from San Diego -4 at the start of the week to -3 at the time of publishing this post.  The TOTAL point number for the games is 44.

We’ve had consistent and unified thoughts on this game since we first saw the line early in the week; a Charger blowout.  I’m sorry, but despite the heavy money being laid on Denver this week we just see it as fuel to Philip Rivers always irrational emotions.  It goes without saying that any Monday night crowd will be electric, but this crowd will be ’superCharged’.  Tonight will bring all of us back to the days of ‘Air Coryell’ and Dan Fouts to JJ.  Look for the notoriously slow starting Chargers to come out on fire and take it to the Broncos early and often.  We see a final score of 38-17.

OUR PICKS tonight for you The Players:  CHARGERS -3 and OVER 44

Enjoy the game.

NFL Week 2 - A great Sunday of NFL action

September 20, 2009 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

When the Jets and Patriots tee it up at 1 pm EST today it will be the first of many exciting and high energy NFL match-ups. The day concludes with another outstanding match-up between New Jersey’s other pro football team, The New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys where these two teams will officially open the Cowboys new stadium tonight at 8:20 pm EST. Today will be an example of why the NFL is such great entertainment. Enjoy!

Here are our top picks for NFL week 2 from your consulting team at Picks4Players:

Oakland @ Kansas City , 1 pm EST
Current Line: Kansas City -3
In week one, Oakland played well enough to beat the Chargers while the Chiefs stayed with Baltimore for 3 quarters before losing by 14 points. On the basis of last week, it would seem the Raiders are clearly better than Kansas City. Call us crazy but I don’t see the pathetic, stumbling, bumbling Raiders of the post Gruden era. Here is some added value on the Raiders side, the visitor in this series has covered 11 of the last 12 and the Raiders have won each of the last 2 times at Arrowhead. Our Pick: Oakland +3

St. Louis @ Washington, 1 pm EST
Current Line: OVER/UNDER 36 ½
If St. Louis couldn’t score last week in Seattle, how are they going to score this week against a better defense? Washington will win the game but this won’t be the prettiest offensive show. Look for Clinton Portis and Stephen Jackson to get the bulk of their teams’ respective workloads, which will mean a very quick game with fewer drives and fewer opportunities to score for both sides. Our Pick: UNDER 36 ½

New England @ NY Jets, 1 pm EST
Current Line: New England -3 ½
The Jets win last week against a weak Texans team and now all of a sudden they are good enough to compete with New England? No way! Emotion can only take you so far and you can bet that these Jets will be flying high. Too high. They will blitz at every opportunity in an effort to rattle and hurt Tom Brady, but New England will game plan and adjust. A team that is too hyped tends to over react to pump fakes and play action and be highly susceptible to the quick hit plays that the Pats like to run to Welker. Too much fire power on the offensive side and defensively they will be licking their chops to get at the Sanchise, Jets rookie QB Mark ‘Dirty’ Sanchez. New England has covered 8 in a row in the division on the road.
Our Pick: New England -3 ½

Baltimore @ San Diego, 4:15 pm EST
Current Line: San Diego -3
Did anyone watch week one? San Diego was outplayed for 3 quarters by the Raiders while Baltimore showed a very balanced offense in putting away the Chiefs. This looks like a great match up for the Ravens offense and defense against a Charger team that is without Tomlinson and it looks like starting center Nick Hardwick will be out too.
Our Pick: Baltimore +3 and we like them on the money line too!

NY Giants @ Dallas, 8:20 pm EST
Current Line: Dallas -3
Dallas officially opens the new stadium where the largest crowd ever to watch an NFL game is expected. Dallas looked good against a Tampa Bay team we expect to have about 3 wins on the season. The Giants are one of the best road teams in the NFL going 17-2 against the spread under Tom Coughlin. Yes, Dallas will be rockin’ but NY has the better lines on both sides of the ball.
Our Pick: NY Giants +3

Here are three more plays to consider:

Arizona @ Jacksonville – UNDER 42 ½

Cleveland @ Denver – Cleveland +3

New Orleans @ Philadelphia – OVER 46

Following last night’s little hiccup, loads of FREE College Football Winners

September 19, 2009 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

I’m not sure where all of you are and how the weather is, but where I’m sitting, for once we’ve got a beautiful sunny Saturday filled with NCAA College Football action. Before we get to the games however, with the passing this past week of long time NCAA president Myles Brand, everyone involved in the NCAA from the players to the coaches to the administrators all should take a moment to pause and give their own personal thanks to Brand whose body of work did so much for the development of the cash cow that is the NCAA. Myles Brand will certainly be missed.

After our own moment of silence;
we do like the following games against the spread:
P4P’s College football picks for Saturday, September 19th

Clemson -7 over Boston College
This is no longer the BC Eagles team that had BJ Raji and Matt Ryan. This BC team is just a shadow of its former self despite their 2-0. Look for Clemson to use its strong running attack and speed to control the game. BC’s QB will be making his first road start, in SEC country. Good luck Son! We look for Clemson to wear out BC.

Arizona +4 over Iowa
Arizona goes on the road to face Iowa and this looks like a great spot for the Wildcats. With Penn State up next on the schedule for the Hawkeyes, they mat be looking a little past Arizona. Look for Arizona’s lines to dominate the game and keep this close the entire way.

Utah +5 over Oregon
Can anyone tell me why the team with the longest current winning streak in college football is an underdog? Utah is 18-5 as an underdog while Oregon is an absolute mess since losing Mike Bellotti as its head coach. Oregon’s defense didn’t even bother to show up last week. Chip Kelly, things were a little easier as the offensive coordinator at New Hampshire, good luck keeping things together in Nike country. This won’t easy but 5 points is too many here.

Washington +19 over USC
Some great trends here which favor Washington. Under Pete Carroll USC is 1-6 in Pac 10 road openers. Last year after the Ohio St win, USC traveled to Oregon State and lost. This year they travel to a fired up Husky Stadium, and new U-Dub Head Coach Steve Sarkisian knows USC inside and out. Aaron Corp making his first start for USC on the road could provide some shaky moments and short field opportunities for Jake Locker. Finally, Pete Carroll will not run up the score on his friend.

Auburn -7 over West Virginia
Huge revenge game for the underrated Auburn Tigers. They have a good offense facing a banged up Mountaineer defense. The West Virginia QB will be making his first road start. Your team at P4P likes Auburn, big.

Florida -29 over Tennessee
Florida has covered the spread in 18 of the last 22 games. I think we know how badly Urban Meyer wants to introduce smart alec Lane Kiffin to SEC football. Kiffin popped off during the hiring process and now should feel the brunt of a swift a$$ kicking from the Urban and Tebow show.

Baylor -10 over Connecticutt
Baylor is flying under the radar in this one with an offense that has shown to be very good in the early season. This is a big revenge game for the Bears and they had 2 weeks to get ready for it. Uconn’s offense has sputtered early on and will be starting a QB making his first road start.

Arkansas -2 over Georgia
Again, another team flying under the radar. Arkansas returns 17 starters and is facing a Bulldog defense that has given up 36 points per game in 5 of the last 8 games.

Texas -18 over Texas Tech
Talk about revenge! Texas Tech ruined Texas’ championship hopes last year and add to that Mike Leach voted for Oklahoma over Texas in the final poll. The Tech defense is horrrrible giving up over 47 points per game on the road. Colt McCoy becomes the Heisman frontrunner after this one. Hook ‘Em Horns by at least 3 touchdowns, and at least some of our staff like OVER 66.
