Thanksgiving Day in the National Football League

November 26, 2009 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

What a mediocre slate of games today in the NFL.  Three games on tap today starting with the Packers at the Lions, followed by the Raiders and their ‘Commitment to Excrement’ travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys.  The football festivities conclude with two of the NFL’s struggling franchises over the past month, as the NY Giants visit Denver to face the Broncos.  Not a lot of dialogue here, just winners:

Game 1:  Packers -11 1/2 @Detroit:  Take OVER the TOTAL of 47 1/2-  This will be a track meet and the Pack may well cover, but take the OVER.

Game 2: Dallas -13 1/2 Vs. The Raiders:  Raiders road show is a horror flick.  I don’t mean to seem like a Romosexual (not that there’s anything wrong with that) but look for Tony and the ‘boys to open up a can of whoop a$$ on the Raiders.  Our Pick: Dallas -13 1/2.

Game 3:  NY Giants - 6 1/2 @ Denver:  Both teams are scuffling, but the Giants have actually won a game this month so they are favored on the road.  6 points though are too many here, take Denver and the points.  Our Pick: Denver + 6

Here are PICKS4PLAYERS BEST BETS for NFL week 8.

We’re feeling confident with our recent success on our 5 STAR plays.  As a result, we are giving you, our loyal followers, FREE direct access to our 5 star selections in the Pro Football Weekly National Handicapper’s Bowl.  We have correctly selected 7 out of our last 9 FIVE STAR games.

Check it out at http://nhbowl.com/Games.php

This Sunday we have 2 games that we feel are 5-STAR worthy. In addition, as a bonus, we have added both of our 4 STAR selections.  By posting our strongest plays we are exposing our game plan to our competition, but we don’t care.  We feel strongly about our selections and we feel equally strong about our commitment to the Players out there that are just trying to get an edge on Vegas.  We’re here for you.

5 STAR Selections

San Francisco @ Indianapolis, 1pm EST

Current Line: Indianapolis -12 ½

The San Francisco offensive line is patchwork, which should allow the Indy defense to wreak havoc on 49ers QB Alex Smith.  Defenses that rarely face Payton Manning usually have a very difficult time.

Our Pick: Indianapolis -12 ½

New York Giants @ Philadelphia, 1pm EST

Current Line: Pick’em

The Giants have struggled the past couple of weeks but there is no better road coach in the NFL than Tom Coughlin.  An Eagles team without Brian Westbrook makes this an even stronger pick.

Our Pick: New York Giants at Pick’em

4 STAR Selections

St. Louis @ Detroit, 1pm EST

Current Line: Detroit -4

We usually don’t like picking a game that features 2 lousy teams but there is an opportunity here.  The Lions get Stafford and Johnson back this week and are coming off a bye so they should be the fresh while the Rams are playing in their 8th straight week and 5th road game.

Our Pick: Detroit -4

Denver @ Baltimore, 1pm EST

Current Line: Baltimore -3

This looks to be a great spot for Baltimore, who is typically very tough at home.  Baltimore’s running attack game should control the game and keep the Denver offense off the field.

Our Pick: Baltimore -3

NFL Week 2 - A great Sunday of NFL action

September 20, 2009 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

When the Jets and Patriots tee it up at 1 pm EST today it will be the first of many exciting and high energy NFL match-ups. The day concludes with another outstanding match-up between New Jersey’s other pro football team, The New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys where these two teams will officially open the Cowboys new stadium tonight at 8:20 pm EST. Today will be an example of why the NFL is such great entertainment. Enjoy!

Here are our top picks for NFL week 2 from your consulting team at Picks4Players:

Oakland @ Kansas City , 1 pm EST
Current Line: Kansas City -3
In week one, Oakland played well enough to beat the Chargers while the Chiefs stayed with Baltimore for 3 quarters before losing by 14 points. On the basis of last week, it would seem the Raiders are clearly better than Kansas City. Call us crazy but I don’t see the pathetic, stumbling, bumbling Raiders of the post Gruden era. Here is some added value on the Raiders side, the visitor in this series has covered 11 of the last 12 and the Raiders have won each of the last 2 times at Arrowhead. Our Pick: Oakland +3

St. Louis @ Washington, 1 pm EST
Current Line: OVER/UNDER 36 ½
If St. Louis couldn’t score last week in Seattle, how are they going to score this week against a better defense? Washington will win the game but this won’t be the prettiest offensive show. Look for Clinton Portis and Stephen Jackson to get the bulk of their teams’ respective workloads, which will mean a very quick game with fewer drives and fewer opportunities to score for both sides. Our Pick: UNDER 36 ½

New England @ NY Jets, 1 pm EST
Current Line: New England -3 ½
The Jets win last week against a weak Texans team and now all of a sudden they are good enough to compete with New England? No way! Emotion can only take you so far and you can bet that these Jets will be flying high. Too high. They will blitz at every opportunity in an effort to rattle and hurt Tom Brady, but New England will game plan and adjust. A team that is too hyped tends to over react to pump fakes and play action and be highly susceptible to the quick hit plays that the Pats like to run to Welker. Too much fire power on the offensive side and defensively they will be licking their chops to get at the Sanchise, Jets rookie QB Mark ‘Dirty’ Sanchez. New England has covered 8 in a row in the division on the road.
Our Pick: New England -3 ½

Baltimore @ San Diego, 4:15 pm EST
Current Line: San Diego -3
Did anyone watch week one? San Diego was outplayed for 3 quarters by the Raiders while Baltimore showed a very balanced offense in putting away the Chiefs. This looks like a great match up for the Ravens offense and defense against a Charger team that is without Tomlinson and it looks like starting center Nick Hardwick will be out too.
Our Pick: Baltimore +3 and we like them on the money line too!

NY Giants @ Dallas, 8:20 pm EST
Current Line: Dallas -3
Dallas officially opens the new stadium where the largest crowd ever to watch an NFL game is expected. Dallas looked good against a Tampa Bay team we expect to have about 3 wins on the season. The Giants are one of the best road teams in the NFL going 17-2 against the spread under Tom Coughlin. Yes, Dallas will be rockin’ but NY has the better lines on both sides of the ball.
Our Pick: NY Giants +3

Here are three more plays to consider:

Arizona @ Jacksonville – UNDER 42 ½

Cleveland @ Denver – Cleveland +3

New Orleans @ Philadelphia – OVER 46
