Top college football picks for Saturday, October 31st.

We are going to change it up this week and rate our plays to help our loyal followers manage their money better.  We at Picks4Players are always looking to give you (the player) the advantage by offering our expertise for free.  Why pay for your picks when you can come to us for “FREE” selections.  We always stand behind our picks.  Our record proves it!!!

Without further ado, here are our favorite college plays for today.  They are rated 1-7, with #1 being our favorite pick.

Our pick in BOLD

Home team in CAPS

#1) Ole Miss (-4) over AUBURN

Two teams going in the opposite direction.  We rate this as our TOP PLAY!

#2) Kansas @ TEXAS TECH OVER 67

We prefer to take the points in this matchup of 2 teams that can’t stop each other.

#3) Michigan State (-3 1/2) over MINNESOTA

Minnesota lost it’s best WR for this game and Michigan State’s passing game should be the difference.

#4) WAKE FOREST (+7) over Miami

Love the home dog here with Miami not looking as dominant in recent weeks.

#5) OREGON STATE (-9) over ucla

UCLA is just not very good and although we think it will take a quarter for OSU to shake last weeks hangover, we think they will take care of business.

#6) Southern Cal (-3) over OREGON

Pete Carroll is flat out the best road coach in college football.  USC’s speed on defense is the difference in a low scoring game.

#7) OKLAHOMA (-28) over Kansas State

This one could get ugly as the Sooners tend to dominate weak teams at home.

Did someone say cocktails?

We don’t have the Georgia-Florida matchup as one of our favorites but we will give you an opinion.  Our opinion in this matchup is to take Florida -14.  Too much talent on the Florida side of the ball.  But beware the bye week, Georgia has had 2 weeks to get ready.

Monday Night Football in the Nation’s Capital

October 26, 2009 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Redskins - FedEx Field - Washington, DC                                8:35 PM EST    ESPN

The Philadelphia Eagles, coming off of their self-granted BYE week against the Raiders last Sunday, look to bury everything about their trip to Oakland.  Donovan McNabb has historically lit up the Redskins and we expect more of the same tonight.

The Redskins are a complete and total mess.  Jim Zorn is still recuperating from Dan Snyder’s first attempt at a vasectomy in the form of new offensive play caller Sherm Lewis.  Zorn has been demoted to team manager but he refuses to quit and forfeit the huge sums of money promised to him by the aforementioned amateur Dr. Snyder.  One thing about this move though, it will result in a more effective Washington offense.  They will score some tonight.

We do like the Eagles in this one although the spread has shifted from 7 up to 9 points in the last 12 hours and that makes us pause for a moment.  We usually subscribe with the theory that if all the money is going one way, then we’ll go the other.  I won’t go that far here.  We like the Eagles a lot at -7 and they will probably cover the 9, but the strong play that your consulting team at P4P  like tonight is: OVER 37 1/2.

Picks4Players remains hot!!! NFL Sunday Euro spectacular- You are looking LIVE at Wembley Stadium in London, England

Here are PICKS4PLAYERS BEST BETS for NFL week 7.

Because we feel confident with our recent success on our 5 STAR plays, we are giving you, our loyal followers FREE direct access to our 5 star selections in the Pro Football Weekly National Handicapper’s Bowl.  We are currently in 2nd place in the overall standings and have correctly selected 5 out of 6 FIVE STAR games.  Check it out at http://nhbowl.com/Games.php

This Sunday we have 2 games that we feel are 5 STAR worthy:

Chicago @ Cincinnati, 1pm EST

Current Line: Cincinnati -1

Last week Chicago moved the ball up and down the field against Atlanta only to have trouble in the red zone.  We do not see that happening this week against a Cincinnati defense without 2 of its biggest stars.  Jay Cutler will have a big day and Carson Palmer will struggle against that tough Bears defense.  Cincinnati seem to play nothing but close games and have won the majority of them, but we look for that trend to stop today. The Bears finally have a quarterback that allows them to attack and keep attacking downfield.  This game should be a fun to watch, high-scoring affair.  Think about OVER 42 ½ if you want extra action on this one.  This could be 21-17 after the first quarter.

Our Pick: Chicago +1

New England vs. Tampa Bay, 1pm EST (Wembley Stadium, London, England 7PM local time) Current Line: New England -14

We see no reason why New England, on a road trip to Olde England, won’t pick up right where it left off last week against a Tampa Bay team that is arguably the National Football League’s worst team.  This one won’t be close. If you’ve made the trip over enjoy this Jolly good show and as always when traveling across the pond, if you need a safe place to protect your cash and valuables, hide them under the soap!  For some reason, Euros never think to look there, ever.

Our Pick: New England -14

Other games we like on today’s limited NFL slate:

Atlanta +4 ½ @ Dallas:  There are two NFL team fan bases that just can’t seem to figure out the difference between betting with your head and betting with your heart.  Dallas fans along with the ridiculously passionate J.E.T.S. JETS, JETS, JETS fans will pour money into the system and on their squad to sway the line.  This game is one of those games.  I’m sorry people, but the wrong team is favored here.  After destroying San Francisco on the road and outlasting a solid and explosive Bears team, the Falcons are going to toast the Cowboys today.  Take the points if you want to play safe and if you are feeling lucky, then take the Falcons straight up.

Indianapolis –14 @ St. Louis Rams:  Indianapolis will be inspired by the return of Bob Sanders, as if they needed inspiration.  Manning is proving once again that he’s more than just Eli’s older brother.  St. Louis will eventually turn things around for Coach Spags, but it won’t be today, this season, or anytime soon.  Look for Indianapolis to run a one-sided, high scoring and well orchestrated scrimmage today against the Lambs.

TOTALs  that we like:

San Francisco @ Houston 1 PM EST:  OVER 44

Look for Michael Crabtree to get involved early and often today in his hometown and NFL debut with the 49ers.  Stump the Schaub should also have a big day for the Texans.  We see this as an easy OVER, maybe by half time.

NY JETS @ Oakland Raiders 4:05 PM EST:  UNDER 34 ½:

It’s possible that the only touchdowns scored in this one will be on Defense and Special Teams.  Look for both teams to blitz all day and create opportunities through this relentless pressure.  This could be the most exciting UNDER in quite some time.

Arizona @ NY Giants 8:35 PM EST:  OVER 46 ½

This should be a barnburner from the opening kick.  Look for lots of scoring early and then a critical drive late by either team will seal the deal.  We see a final of 31-28, one way or another.

NCAA Football Midseason Spectacular Saturday - FREE Winners Here!!!

Top College football picks for Saturday, October 24th.

HOME TEAM IN CAPS

Iowa PK over MICHIGAN STATE

Iowa has the inside track for the Rose Bowl and they won’t let up this week against the Spartans with 16-13 revenge on their minds from last year.  Iowa brings the better run game and better defense against the Spartans.

Minnesota +16 ½  over Ohio State

The Golden Gophers might not score much in this game but they will do just enough to cover the spread against the horrible Buckeye offense.  Terelle Pryor might be the worst throwing QB in the BIG 10.  As long as Minnesota doesn’t give OSU and bunch of short field opportunities, this should be an easy cover for the Golden Gophers.

Auburn +7 ½ over LSU

LSU coach, Les Miles, is 0-12 as an SEC home favorite so we will go with the trend here and say Auburn will do enough offensively to keep it close, in what should be a very low scoring game.  With that being said, we also like UNDER 50 1/2

Tcu -2 ½ over BYU

TCU has giving up 18 points or less in 17 out of the last 18 games.  Last year TCU crushed BYU 32-7.  Not much has changed this year, so this should be a win and cover for the visiting Horned Frogs with ESPN Gameday live from Provo, Utah.  Look for Chris Fowler and the Gameday crew to bring back the no longer politically correct Utah state motto, ‘Be Quiet before I marry the both of you.’

Penn State -4 ½ over MICHIGAN

Michigan just isn’t very good yet and they have the 83rd rated defense in the NCAA.  Rich Rodriguez is still trying to get it done with Lloyd Carr’s players and this is just not their time.  Penn State should move the ball and control the game.

STANFORD -6 over Arizona State

The Cardinal return home after back to back road losses to face an Arizona State team that has won two in a row.  The Cardinal is undefeated at home and have put up big numbers led by RB Toby Gerhart.  We see the strong Stanford ground game and scrappy defense controlling this one.

Colorado +4 ½ over KANSAS STATE

Last week Kansas, this week Kansas State.  Look for the improved Buffalos to again control this game and dominate the Wildcats especially in the ground game where the Colorado defense is giving up less than 50 yards per game.  UPSET SPECIAL, take the Buffs on the $-line.

Some other selections we like:

Notre Dame vs. Boston College TOTAL points:  OVER 55

Oklahoma vs. Kansas TOTAL points:  OVER 54

Idaho vs. Nevada TOTAL points: OVER 67

Monday Night Football Wild West Blockbuster Tonight- FREE WINNING PICKS

October 19, 2009 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

Picks4Players remains hot picking winners ATS (against the spread).  While one of our 5 star plays tanked (Philadelphia and who in their right mind would’ve put money on the Raiders) we were solid in putting our necks on the line and taking Kansas City and accurately predicting the Ravens to cover at Minnesota.  In fact our prediction of Baltimore winning outright was set to happen but the Ravens’ field goal attempt sailed wide left as time expired.

With another solid weekend ATS (against the spread) your partners here at P4P continue to climb in the standings of Pro Football Weekly’s National Handicapper’s Bowl.  Picks4Players is currently in 2nd place for the season and closing fast on the top spot  picking games against the spread in the wild, wacky, and highly unpredictable National Football League.  To follow our progress in the NHB please click on the link www.nhbowl.com/Games.php

In tonight’s Monday Night match-up, the 5-0 Denver Broncos, with their recently vacated Bandwagon completely refilled, roll into Southern California to face a desperate and explosive San Diego Charger team.  The Broncos bandwagon has swayed the number tonight from San Diego -4 at the start of the week to -3 at the time of publishing this post.  The TOTAL point number for the games is 44.

We’ve had consistent and unified thoughts on this game since we first saw the line early in the week; a Charger blowout.  I’m sorry, but despite the heavy money being laid on Denver this week we just see it as fuel to Philip Rivers always irrational emotions.  It goes without saying that any Monday night crowd will be electric, but this crowd will be ’superCharged’.  Tonight will bring all of us back to the days of ‘Air Coryell’ and Dan Fouts to JJ.  Look for the notoriously slow starting Chargers to come out on fire and take it to the Broncos early and often.  We see a final score of 38-17.

OUR PICKS tonight for you The Players:  CHARGERS -3 and OVER 44

Enjoy the game.

NFL SUNDAY- P4P is Hot- Here we go again!!!!

October 18, 2009 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

Here are PICKS4PLAYERS BEST BETS for NFL week 5.

As a special treat for our loyal followers, we are giving you free direct access to our 5 star selections in the Pro Football Weekly National Handicapper’s Bowl.  We are currently in 3rd place in the overall standings and have correctly selected 4 straight FIVE STAR games.

This Sunday we have 2 games which we feel are 5 STAR worthy

Kansas City @ Washington, 1pm EST

Current Line: Washington -6 ½

Washington coach Jim Zorn is on the hot seat and he has never beating an AFC foe.  There is a lot of panic and distraction in DC and we are not talking health care.  Washington is playing good defense but a look inside the numbers show they have faced some of the worst offenses in the NFL.  Look for KC to be able to move the ball and keep this close enough to cover the number.

Our Pick: Kansas City +6 ½

Philadelphia @ Oakland, 4:05pm EST

Current Line: Philadelphia -14

The Eagle defense is going to make life very tough on poor old Jamarcus Russell.  He has 3 different offensive linemen who have to figure out the Eagle blitz scheme.  Even the best of offensive lines have trouble with the zone blitzes.  The Philly offense just needs to score 21 points to cover this number.

Our Pick: Philadelphia -14

Best of the Rest as we see it at P4P, and as always, our Picks are FREE, FREE, FREE!!!

Baltimore @ Minnesota, 1 pm EST

Current Line: Minnesota – 3

Did anyone see the hit that Ray Lewis put on a defenseless Ochocinco last week.  While Chad’s helmet flew off it is a miracle that his head stayed on.  If you think there was passion behind that hit just imagine how the Ravens are aching to hit Brett Favre.  Brett’s never been on a 5-0 team and this dream ride he’s been on for the start of the season will take a hit today.  Look for the Ravens in an outright upset and take them on the money line if you feel lucky.

Our Pick:  Baltimore +3

Our best picks on the TOTALs side of the action:

New England vs. Tennessee total points: 40 4:15 pm EST

While the weather will not be ideal, the Patriots will look to get Tom Brady’s timing back against two rookie corners.  Brady single-handedly lost the game last week against the Broncos with two horrendous passes, one to Moss in the End Zone and one to Welker that would have most likely been a score.  Nobody feels worse than Brady and look for them to put up a lot of points.  Kerry Collins will answer a few times as well.

Our Pick: OVER 40

New Orleans vs NY Giants total points: 47 1/2  1 pm EST

OUR Pick: OVER 47 ½

Arizona vs. Seattle total points: 46 ½  8:30 pm EST

OUR Pick:  OVER 46 1/2

Picks4Players Top College football picks for Saturday, October 17th.

HOME TEAM IN CAPS

ALABAMA -17 ½ over South Carolina

The Alabama defense has been dominant, giving up less than 90 yards in the first half of 4 out 6 games on the year.  South Carolina has been giving up 4.3 yards per rush and QB Steven Garcia has been very erratic leading the ‘Cocks.  If Alabama gets up early, Garcia will have a difficult time playing catch up and he will commit turnovers leading to a run-a-way victory for the Crimson Tide.

ARIZONA -4  over Stanford

Arizona is looking for revenge over Stanford after last years defeat.  This will be toughest test the Stanford ground game has had to face all year and we think the Stanford defense was exposed last week against Oregon State.  Look for Arizona QB Nick Foles to continue his hot play over the past couple of weeks.

MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE +4 1/2  over Mississippi State

Why Mississippi State would schedule this game on the road is a head scratcher.  They are going to get ambushed this week facing a good Middle Tennessse State team that can put some points on the board. This game is also on TV which should get the home crowd fired up more than usual.  A MTSU game usually equals lots of moonshine, some being consumed out of Souvenir Ketchup Bottles that look like Curt Schilling.  Now when you add a national TV audience, I don’t know if we’ll be able to keep all of our teeth in place for this one.

ARIZONA STATE -6 ½ over Washington

This line just keeps climbing and with good reason.  Washington gives up more yards on the ground than any Pac 10 team.  With the late start in Tempe, look for the Sun Devil co-eds to be both liquored up and fired up for this one.  Jake Locker simply can’t do it himself for the Huskies, but count on him having a great time after the game with a few of the aforementioned ASU co-eds.  He is a stud.

WISCONSIN -2 ½ over Iowa

Wisky outgained Ohio State by over 200 yards last week and we think they will give the Iowa defense all it can handle this week.  Iowa has not run the ball particularly well this year and when they have to pass look for the Wisconsin defense to get a couple of picks.  As an added bonus, Wisky is playing this with revenge from last year.

TEXAS -3 over Oklahoma

Everyone will tell you Oklahoma has a great pass defense but other than BYU who have they faced that can really throw the ball?  Look for Texas to have some success throwing the ball while the Texas defensive line will give Sam Bradford all he can handle.  Remember Bradford will be without all world TE Gresham for the remainder of the year.

COLORADO +10 over Kansas

The Kansas defense has been brutal over the past 2 weeks yielding over 32 points per game.  Colorado’s new QB who looked impressive last week should have a big day throwing the ball and keeping this one close the entire way.  It would not be a surprise to see Colorado win the game.

P4P ‘en fuego’ ATS, win week #5 of the National Handicappers Bowl

October 17, 2009 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

Your consulting team at Picks4Players continues our consistent and strong selecting of football games ATS (Against The Spread).  With a big weekend last week in which we were 3 for 3 in our 5 star selections, P4P won Week #6 of the NHB and climbed to third overall.

In fact, with our recent hot streak we’ve adopted the title of ‘The Nipsy Russell’ of Sports Handicapping:                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Track P4P on-line, or follow our tweets, our free selections, can’t be beats.  Add us to your favorites, and tell all of your peeps, P4P’s may be FREE, but we’re playing for keeps.

LIVE FROM LAS VEGAS P4P COLLEGE PICKS!!!

Top College football picks for Saturday, October 10th.

HOME TEAM IN CAPS

WASHINGTON +3 over Arizona

Washington has lost 2 in a row on the road since the upset win over USC. But they return to the friendly surroundings of Husky Stadium to face an Arizona Wildcat team coming off a bye week. We think the Huskies will feel rejuvinated at home with QB Jake Locker leading the way.

Georgia PK over TENNESSEE

History has shown that Mark Richt’s Bulldogs play very well on the SEC road and that trend will continue this week. Georgia clearly has the better athletes and enough weapons to handle Tennessee. In what should be a low scoring game, the Tennessee offense just doesn’t have enough playmakers to keep this close.

Alabama -6 ½ over OLE MISS

The Ole Miss offense has sputtered this year and unfortunately for them they face the nation’s best defense in Alabama. Many experts believe Alabama might the best team in the nation right now. The ‘Bama offense is very balanced, averaging over 200 per game passing and rushing. This is just too tough a spot for the Ole Miss offense to get untracked.

OHIO STATE -16 over Wisconsin

Only one of these teams is a real contender for the Big Ten title. It’s time for the Wisconsin offense to get exposed. The Wisky offense has been on quite a run lately but that will come to an abrupt end this week as Ohio St. will be come with full focus to show the Badgers whose boss in the Big Ten. Look for Ohio St. QB Terrelle Pryor to have a huge day.

SOUTH CAROLINA -11 ½ over Kentucky

No one in the nation has had a tougher schedule than the Kentucky Wildcats over the past 2 weeks, having played Alabama and Florida. Now they have to travel to South Carolina to face the ‘Cocks. This is a worn out bunch of ‘Cats whose physical and emotional tanks are on empty.

Stanford -1 ½ over OREGON STATE

Stanford is smelling roses after their beat down on UCLA last week. Stanford has the better ground game and clearly the better defense against a Beaver (not often you get to say Beaver and Cock in the same write-up) offense that has shown to be very inconsistant.

Michigan +7 ½ over IOWA

As great as Iowa has played on the road, they haven’t been dominating at home. Look for Michigan to rebound after last weeks loss to keep this close the entire way. We love getting the extra half point here but if the line drops below 7, play with caution.

MONDAY NIGHT SPECIAL!!!

October 5, 2009 by G$ · Leave a Comment

After going 3-4 against the spread on Sunday, we are ready to bounce back with a winner for tonight’s showdown between Green Bay and Minnesota.

This game feels like a Super Bowl with all the hype that has preceded kickoff and we won’t rehash that. Let’s just focus on the matchup.

Both teams enter the game scoring over 20 points in each of their first 3 games of the season but upon further inspection the Packers haven’t really played a defense like the one they will face tonight and with the hyped up crowd, this will be a very difficult task for the Packers and Aaron Rodgers to overcome. We do however think Rodgers will be able to make a few plays in the passing game to keep this close early but Adrian Peterson and the Minnesota defense will take over the second half and Minnesota will cruise to victory.

OUR PICK FOR MNF IS: MINNESOTA -4 1/2

As always play smart and play with PICKS4PLAYERS!

We will have more update later in the week, live from the Vegas Strip.
