NFL WEEK 13, The Drive for the Playoffs heats up

November 30, 2008 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

After a long and festive Thanksgiving weekend, from your consultants at www.picks4Players.com, here are our top picks for NFL week 13.  Good luck.

Carolina @ Green Bay, 1pm est

Current Line: Green Bay -3

Look for Green Bay to rebound after last Monday’s loss to the Saints.  When warm weather teams have to travel North at this time of year, they usually run into problems adjusting to the climate.  We expect Carolina to scuffle on the semi frozen tundra. Our Pick: Green Bay -3

New York Giants @ Washington, 1pm est

Current Line: Giants -3 ½

If you have been checking us every week, you know it pays to play the Giants on the road and this week is no exception.  A rainy day is expected in DC and we see the Giants ground game running all over the Redskin defense.  Emotions will be high as the Redskins pay tribute to their former teammate, Sean Taylor, who was shot and killed one year ago today.  Clinton Portis will carry the ball about 30 times to try to keep the Giants offense off the field, but in the second half look for the G-Men to impose a little Earth, Wind, and Fire at Fed-Ex Field and overcome the emotional Redskins. Our Pick: Giants -3 ½

Indianapolis @ Cleveland, 1pm est

Current Line: Indy -4 ½

Simple put, Indy is rolling and Cleveland isn’t.  We just don’t see the Cleveland offense getting any spark from the return of Derek Anderson.  Cleveland is a terrible 1-5 at home this year while Indy is a stellar 4-2 on the road. Our Pick: Indy -4 ½

Atlanta @ San Diego, 4:05pm est

Current Line: San Diego -5

A 7-4 Atlanta team playing in one of the best divisions in the NFL going against a 4-7 San Diego team from the worst divisions in football and San Diego is favored.  Something is fishy here.  Michael Turner’s homecoming is a sweet one.  His performance will leave the rest of the league asking, LT who?  And for the record, I grew up watching the real deal, the crack smoking LT throughout his entire career, and LaDanian, you are no LT.  In fact, let’s just remove the T from your moniker and we’ll just refer to you as the Big L.  Now Big L, Son, go eat your soup. Our Pick: Atlanta +5

Here are some other money makers:

Kansas City @ Oakland, 4:15pm est

Our Pick: Oakland -3

 Chicago @ Minnesota, 8:15pm est

Our Pick: Minnesota -3 ½

 OVER/UNDER Selections

San Francisco @ Buffalo, 1pm est

Our Pick: Under 43

Best of luck to one and all.  Play wise, play smart, play on, Players!!!!!

College Football Saturday - post Thanksgiving weekend

November 29, 2008 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

Well players, we hope everyone had an outstanding Thanksgiving.  You’ll have to excuse us this weekend as we will be light on the narrative but heavy on the winners.  After eating way too much on Thursday, I ate more on Thursday night, followed that up with an enormous post turkey day Friday breakfast, hors d’oeuvres and cocktails at noon (as far as you know), and then wrapped up Friday night with shots of iced Cuervo and a hearty, hearty Italian feast catered by Long Island’s own Mama Lombardi’s. The company is all gone and it is clear that after two straight days of getting after it, the body just doesn’t bounce back the way it used to. Needless to say, I’m a little banged up today, but at this time of year, who isn’t?  I’m sucking it up and posting winners for you, but the details that led to the selections are a little fuzzy.  As always, play wise, play smart, play on Player!

Look for these teams to cover their games ATS (against the spread):

Texas Tech -22 (They’re pissed off with something to prove)

Missouri -16    (Lots of points here, but Mizzou will cover)

Oklahoma -7 1/2  (Looking great and on a mission)

Florida -16 1/2  (See note on Oklahoma above-same here)

Alabama -14 1/2 (’Bama won’t struggle until their bowl game)

Oregon +3 (Civil War is anything but civil, the Ducks are the only thing between the Beavers and the Rose                        Bowl so it will be a battle for the Beavers all day.)

Notre Dame +32  ( All things point to a USC rout, but look for the Irish to hang in there and keep it within                                 4 touchdowns in what could be the swan song for ND Head Coach Carney Wilson, oops                                 I mean Charlie Weis.)

Look for a lot of points to be scored as the jockeying for BCS positioning continues today.  If you are contemplating TOTALS look for the OVER in the Texas Tech, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Florida games.  USC will also be trying to impress today.

That’s all for a relatively light schedule.  Good luck to all of the Players out there from your consultants at www.Picks4Players.com.

Thanksgiving Thursday Office Poolooza: 3 NFL Games 2Day

Welcome to another week of www.Picks4Players.com’s weekly Office Poolooza and who will win this weekend’s NFL games straight up, on the Money Line.  This weekend’s NFL slate includes three Thanksgiving Day games.  As usual we get the LLLLLLLLLLLLions (the L’s keep mounting) and Cowboys hosting games but then we get the NFL Network’s Thursday night production featuring the struggling Eagles and the soon to be NFC West Champion Cardinals.  One recommendation to the league, get the Detroit Lions off of the Thanksgiving Day schedule.  Nobody wants to see them, not even their own fans.  Rod Marinelli, the current Lions Head Coach and bow-legged cool brother, will be lucky to last the season.  Matt Millen, wow!!!!  Anywayz, on with the picks:

NFL Week #12, The march toward the playoffs……

November 23, 2008 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

Greeting players and welcome to week # 12 and our rated selections to help you navigate the NFL waters this weekend.  We like many opportunities this weekend and we look to carry over our blazing hot success on the TOTALS side over to the games ATS as well.   After extensive research, discussion, heated debate, weather checks, more research, and finally our infamous 11th hour handicapping session, here is what the brain trust, your consultants, at www.Picks4Players.com have identified as money making opportunities on this weekend’s NFL menu.

New England @ Miami, 1pm est

Current Line: Pick’em

This is a revenge game for New England after the thumping they took from Miami back in week 3.  The New England defense will be better prepared for the “Wildcat” offense this go around.  The Patriots get a little healthier this week and get extra days to prepare for this one. Our Pick: New England

Indianpolis @ San Diego, 8:15pm est

Current Line: San Diego -3

San Diego has not played well since beating New England on a Sunday Night game back in week 6.  Check the injury report before this one to make sure Bob Sanders is playing.  Indy has won 3 straight and seem to have it rolling now. Our Pick: Indy +3

New York Giants @ Arizona, 4:15pm est

Current Line: New York -3 ½

The Giants are simply the best road team in the NFL.  They have covered 16 of the last 19 on the road.  The New York pass rush should be in Kurt Warner’s face all day and it won’t matter who is carrying the rock for the Giants, their ground game should set the tempo. Our Pick: New York -3 ½

New York Jets @ Tennessee, 1pm est

Current Line: Tennessee -5 ½

We have a ton of faith in Brett Favre.  These are the games when he plays his best.  The pressure mounts each week for the Titans.  Although the J!E!T!S! JETS, JETS, JETS may not win, we know they can keep this one inside 5 points.  Against our better judgement and general understanding that the Jets could easily make us feel like throwing up by not covering, we’ll roll with them any way. Our Pick: Jets +5 ½

Here are some other money makers:

San Francisco @ Dallas, 1pm est

Our Pick: SF +10

Minnesota @ Jacksonville, 1pm est

Our Pick: Minnesota +2 ½

OVER/UNDER Selections

 Philadelphia @ Baltimore, 1pm est

Our Pick: Under 39

College Football Rivalry Weekend, The Quest for Bowl Eligibility

November 22, 2008 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

The theme this Saturday is Old School Rivalries and Bowl Eligibility.  Who is going to step up and who’s going to step into a big hot steamy pile of losing?  This is the weekend that some college careers come to a close and other’s seasons are extended through big time play making and a little bit of luck.  Certain teams will play well in their quest for Bowl eligibility, while others will not. No matter which way you look at it though, it is one of the most exciting weekends of the College Football season.  With that being said, our crack staff and lead handicapper G$ along with his merry band of consultants have reasoned out the following selections for today.  Good luck and enjoy the day.
Illinois -3 over Northwestern
The first of 4 bowl eligible games we will play.  Look for Illinois to make up for an inconsistent season by pounding a disinterested Wildcat squad.  With Northwestern already bowl eligible, Illinois should come out and play 60 minutes this week.  What are you going to do Juice?  This is supposed to be your time to shine.

Stanford +9 vs California
Again, Stanford is trying to become bowl eligible in this West Coast rivalry match-up.  This is Stanford’s super bowl in trying to extend their season.  With Cal already qualifying for a bowl and coming off two tough losses, look for them to be tired this week.  The Bears may get the Axe, but look for Stanford to easily cover the number while the Bears work hard to give this Big Game away in typi-CAL fashion.

Virginia +2 vs Clemson
With a win, Virginia will get a crack at a bowl so we see them playing 60 minutes of tough football with the home crowd behind them.  This will be tight the whole way with a late FG perhaps the decider.
Hawaii -23 over Idaho
Believe it or not, Hawaii will be in a bowl with a win.  The home crowd should propel them to cover against a weak Idaho team.  These aren’t the Rainbow Warriors of June Jones and Colt Brennan, but what a great way to start a new era of Hawaii football by qualifying for a bowl game.
Maryland +1 1/2 vs Florida St.
Maryland has won every home game this year, and we see that trend continuing.
Vanderbilt -3 over Tennessee
Tennessee has thrown in the towel if the loss to Wyoming was any indication.  Phillip Fulmer, thanks for all the memories.
Tulsa -28 1/2 over Tulane
Look for a big rebound from Tulsa this week, after giving up 70 points to Houston last week. Tulsa may score 75 just to try to erase the memory.
Oklahoma -7 over Texas Tech
Game of The Week.  Oklahoma is too deep and with the home crowd should win this shootout.  The shootout may not be as high a scoring affair as most people think, but we still see a shootout, just below the 76 total.  Look to take the UNDER in this one as well.
Penn St. -14 1/2 over Michigan St.
Penn St. can stop the run, so when Michigan St. has to throw, look for some picks and short fields for the Penn St. offense who will be smelling Roses after this one.  Penn State should dominate this from the outset and not stop scoring until they get to Pasadena.  Michigan State can’t wait to leave Un-Happy Valley.
Mississippi +3 vs LSU
Ol’ Miss is better than people think and LSU is worse than people think.  Simply stated, take Ole Miss and the points, although, they could win this one outright.
Ohio St -20 over Michigan
We would love to take Michigan here but with a backup QB and poor offensive play for most of the year we just don’t like their chances.  Things have unraveled in Ann Arbor and this outgoing group of seniors with no loyalty to Rich Rodriguez will lay a jumbo egg in this game at the Horseshoe.  Ohio State will roll.
That’s all for now.  Please check back throughout the day for any updates and new information.  Also, as always, check in with us every Sunday morning for a cup of our NFL coffee.  Good luck.  play wise, play smart, play on, Player!

Week # 11 of the National Football League, where has the season gone?

November 16, 2008 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

As previously stated on this site and on numerous occasions, the NFL is the best form of entertainment going.  The best of reality TV, competition, and action, 16 times this weekend.  Oh by the way, the NFL weekend starts Thursday and concludes Monday.  Brilliant!  Each of the 32 teams has there own story, drama, and soap opera activity going on and while the Giants and Titans appear to be headed for a Super Bowl match-up, there is still a ton of football to be played and this season, more than most, it appears that the teams that can best get their stuff together, their house in order, and their rosters healthy have a big opportunity in pursuit of this season’s championship. Enough with my ramblings, on with our Super Star Selections for week # 11 of the NFL.  Good luck and enjoy the day.

Here are our top picks for NFL week 11, from your consultants at www.Picks4Players.com

Houston @ Indianapolis, 1pm est

Current Line: Indianapolis -9

Indy looks to make it 3 wins in a row after last weeks win over Pittsburgh.  Houston has lost 2 in a row and struggled last week at home against Baltimore.  We see a very motivated Colts offense this week as the drive for the playoffs starts now.  Marvin Harrison, it’s time to pull your head out, otherwise people will continue to think that you may be point shaving.  Catch the ball.

Our Pick: Indianapolis -9

Tennessee @ Jacksonville, 1pm est

Current Line: Tennessee -3

Tennessee travels on the road for the second straight week to face a Jacksonville team that might as well have had a bye last week when they blasted Detroit.  Tennessee is playing their 4th straight tough opponent.  We like the fact the Jacksonville is getting points at home.  Coach Del Rio’s motivational tactics over the last few weeks had the Jags stripped of some privileges only to earn them back with a little discipline and a swift A** kicking of the Lions.  These Jags will be ready to hit tonight. Our Pick: Jacksonville +3

San Diego @ Pittsburgh, 4:15pm est

Current Line: Pittsburgh -5

With San Diego struggling against Kansas City last week and Pittsburgh losing a tough one against Indy, we see a highly motivated Steeler team ready to give the home fans something to cheer about. Look for the #1 ranked Pittsburgh defense to dominate in the cold weather, and look for appearances from Sour LT and Finger pointing Phillip Rivers.  This won’t be fun for Charger fans.  On the bright side you’ll get to see Norv Turner’s face all day long looking like he just drank a gallon of spoiled milk. Our Pick: Pittsburgh -5

St. Louis @ San Francisco, 4:05pm est

Current Line: San Francisco -6 ½

Samurai Mike will have his 49er team ready for a big bounce back after Monday’s bitter loss.  St. Louis has thrown in the towel and without Steven Jackson they won’t have much hope to generate anything offensively.

Our Pick: San Francisco -6 ½

Here are some other money makers:

Minnesota @ Tampa Bay, 1pm est

Our Pick: Tampa Bay -4

OVER/UNDER Selections

Baltimore @ NY Giants, 1pm est

Our Pick: Under 41 ½

New Orleans @ Kansas City, 1pm est

Our Pick: OVER 50 ½

Play wise, play smart, play on!! Players.

College Football Saturday- November 15th, 2008 **Free Picks All Day**

November 15, 2008 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

Ohio St. -9 1/2 over Illinois
Ohio St. has been rolling on offense since Terrelle Pryor has taken
over at QB for the Buckeyes. Look for him to make some plays out of
the pocket against a good Illinois pass rush. Ohio St. still has Rose
Bowl hopes after the Penn St. loss last week so look for them to come
with full focus this week. As an added bonus Ohio St. is playing in
revenge after Illinois spoiled their season last year.

Oregon St. -3 1/2 over California
Oregon St. is playing for the Rose Bowl, so look for a fired
up crowd in Corvallis this weekend. The Cal offense is struggling and going
back to Kevin Riley at QB this week. We see a low scoring game with
Cal having a hard time getting out of single digits. In addition, Cal is 1-5 ATS
after playing USC.

Nebraska -7 over Kansas St.
Kansas St. has lost 4 straight and come home after playing 4 of the
last 5 on the road. They have given up over 150 points in the last 3
weeks and haven't had a bye since September. Nebraska still has a
shot at the Big 12 North title, so look for them to be ready to play
this week. Kansas State is still led by lame duck coach Ron Prince. End the misery already.
South Carolina +22 1/2 over Florida
South Carolina has the best defense in the SEC and battles the SEC's
best offense in Florida. The South Carolina offense has been better
of late and we think they have enough to stay in this with Florida
having already clinched the SEC East division title. You know the Ol'
Ball Coach will have his team ready for this return trip to Gainesville.

Texas/Kansas OVER 68
Both of these offenses love to score points in bunches and we see that trend
continuing this week.

Stanford +24 over USC
Yes, USC is playing in revenge....Yes, they have a great defense, but
Stanford will have a packed house looking for a repeat of last year's
performance. They probably won't get it, but Stanford is just scrappy
enough to keep this game close until halftime. The USC offense is
overrated having only scored 17 points against Cal and Arizona in
recent weeks. We think Stanford will be able to keep USC under 30
points which means they only need a TD to cover. As an added bonus
look at UNDER 48 1/2 as a play as well.

Other Games of interest with winning implications:

Wisconsin -13 1/2 over Minnesota

Arizona +6 over Oregon

NC State +3 over Wake Forest
Have a great Saturday everyone. Build up that nest egg today to get rolling tomorrow in the NFL.
Play wise, play smart, and play on player!!!

Friday Night College Football ***Free Selections*** Kick off the weekend right

November 14, 2008 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

Cincinnati and their rugged defense visit Papa John’s stadium tonight in Louisville for a battle with the Cardinals. The Bearcats are a 4 point favorite over the home team and the total is 47.

These Louisville Cardinals are just not the same as in year’s past.  There is no potency to the offense, at all.  The fan base is more eager than usual to see Rick Pitino stalk the Freedom Hall sidelines this season.  While Papa John’s will definitely start out rocking tonight with a lot of co-ed underage drinking, the enthusiasm will leave the stadium early in search of more beer because the game is putting them to sleep.

Our Selections:  Cincinnati -4 and UNDER 47

Good luck Player and enjoy the game.
