Week # 8 Monday Night Football, Will Tennessee Stay Unbeaten

October 27, 2008 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

Tonight should be another great and entertaining Monday Night Football throw down.  While the TV audience will be flipping back and forth between the Titans vs. Colts and the Phillies clincher in the World Series tonight, one thing you can bank on is both venues will be rocking.

The Phillies, tonight, will wrap up their first World series title since the wheez kids of 1980 with Joe Morgan and Pete Rose, and also their first title since the retirement of Picks4Players own G$ from the Phillies organization.  Congrats in advance to the New World Champs.

As far as MNF tonight, the undefeated Titans (6-0) host the Indianapolis Colts and Eli Manning’s older brother Peyton.  The Titans are a 4 point favorite and the over/under total for the game is 40 points. Tennessee seems to be the real deal this year and the Colts look more like the Colts of yesteryear with Bert Jones throwing to Roger Carr, with Lydell Mitchell and the goggled Joe Washington coming out of the backfield.  They are certainly not the same squad we’ve grown accustomed to watching cruise up and down the field with ease over the last 6 years.  We’ve had extensive discussions about this match-up all week and despite our best efforts to rationalize a Colts resurgence, we just don’t see it.  The Titans defense is legit and Jeff Fischer is an outstanding coach.  Look for Kerry Collins to manage the game nicely and lead the Titans on some nice scoring drives.  Meanwhile Peyton Manning is going to have to play near flawless football to keep the Colts in this one, and again, we just don’t see it.                                                         Our picks tonight:  Tennessee -4 and UNDER 40

As we always urge, play wise, play smart, but play on Players.  Good luck from your teammates at www.Picks4Players.com

NFL Sunday, Sunday, Sunday is going Euro this week

October 26, 2008 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

Here are our top picks for NFL week 8 from www.Picks4Players.com Euro-style

Oakland @ Baltimore, 1pm est

Current Line: Balt -8 ½

West coast teams traveling east have had problems over the last 2 years going 0-12 straight up and 2-10 ATS.  Add to this that Baltimore has not allowed a 100 yards rusher in over 2 years and they are only giving up 67 yards per game on the ground this year. Our Pick: Balt -8 ½

Tampa Bay @ Dallas, 1pm est

Current Line: Dallas -2

Can someone explain to me why Dallas is favored?  Tampa’s defense will shut down the Brad Johnson led Dallas and the Dallas secondary is missing 2 starters.  This is one of those games where Tampa QB Jeff Garcia looks like an elusive magician as he earns his contract for 2009, 2010, and beyond.  In my eyes, Garcia is a combination of Fran Tarkenton and Joe Kapp, just winning.  Not pretty but effective. Our Pick: TB +2

Arizona @ Carolina, 1pm est

Current Line: CAR -4

Again, here is a team traveling east through 3 times zones for a 10am body clock start.  Carolina is rolling and will go after an immobile Kurt Warner.  The Carolina ground game will control the clock and keep the AZ passing game off the field. Our Pick: Car -4

NY Giants @ Pittsburgh , 4:15pm est

Current Line: Pitt -3

The Giants are the best road team in the NFL and now they become an underdog. What?  Pittsburgh is without Willie Parker and Roethlisberger has proven he needs a solid ground game to be at his best.  In addition, no Santonio Holmes for Pittsburgh today either.  His recent traffic stop and explanation to law enforcement that ‘no, officer, I didn’t just hit a skunk,’ have landed him in some hot water.  Look for Big Ben to get sacked at least 7 times today. Our Pick: NYG +3

Here are some other games of interest:

San Diego vs. New Orleans (Wembley Stadium, London, England) 1pm est

Our Pick: SD -3

Seattle @ San Francisco, 4:15pm est

Our Pick: SF -5

OVER/UNDER Selection

San Diego @ New Orleans, 1pm est

Our Pick: OVER 46

Enjoy the action and good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

College Football Saturday, October 25th, 2008

October 25, 2008 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

After another impressive College Football selection weekend last Saturday where your partners here at www.Picks4Players posted an overall record ATS of 9-4.

Here are this week’s NCAA picks as brought to you by your team at www.Picks4Players.com:

Illinois -2 @ Wisconsin - Wisconsin is 0-4 in Big 10 with no covers. They are
giving up 5 yards per rush during that time.  They’ve officially gone in the tank

NC State +12 @ Maryland - Bad weather expected for this one, which
should keep the score down. Maryland is just 3 of 15 ATS as a home favorite.  This could be just a flat out sloppy game, weather aside.

UCLA +17.5 @ Cal - Cal’s offense is sputtering and they are missing 2
starters on an already thin defensive line.  Cal will, of course, try to bounce back from their horrendous second half in Arizona last week, but look for UCLA to keep this respectable.

Wyoming @ TCU -31 - Wyoming had failed to cover in 14 straight. TCU
will try to run up score for maximum BCS consideration.  All feelings are put aside and the almighty dollar starts speaking in the offensive huddles.

Colorado @ Missouri -21 - Missouri looks for a big bounce back game.
Last year the Tigers blasted Colorado 55-10 in Boulder.  It’s going to be Daniel to Macklin all day long as the Missouri faithful get ready to grub on some BBQ’d Buffalo.  This one will be ugly early, so sit back and enjoy with multiple cold beverages

# 3 Penn St @ # 9 Ohio St. +2 1/2- Penn St. never won at the Big Harseshoe. We see Penn
State’s weak schedule finally catching up with them. Ohio St. is only giving up 97
yards per game on ground.

Notre Dame  – 10 1/2@ University of Washington – Notre Dame’s defense has given up 19 ppg  in the last 7 games.  Washington has been out gained by every team this year and is giving up close to 40 ppg at home..

Other games we like and you might want to consider:

Tennessee +6  hosting Nick Saban and #2 Alabama.  Tennessee’s been mediocre all year and Phillip Fulmer is feeling the heat.  This is Coach fulmer’s opportunity to make up for a completely lost season and to save his job.  Tennessee is talented on both sides of the ball and their run defense is 4th in the nation.  Also, Alabama has struggled to close their last two games and we like Tennessee to keep this close to the end.

Texas -12 v. Oklahoma St. –Offense, offense, offense, and then a few stops in the second half by Texas will give Colt McCoy enough room to keep this wagon rolling.  Mack Brown is ready to lay the Mac Down on anyone in his team’s way.  Texas seems to be the real deal, and on a mission.  Also, take the OVER as long as it is 75 or below.

Michigan +4 v. Michigan St. – Michigan is great at stopping run.  Rich Rodriguez finally got his deal done with Michigan yesterday and Michigan State got absolutely blasted at home last week by Penn St.

LSU -2 v. Georgia - Georgia has yet to cover in the SEC, and their offensive line is banged up, but at this time of year, who isn’t a little banged up. LSU is 41-4 straight up at home. Georgia has not covered in 7 straight on road.

Eastern Michigan @ Ball St. -24 - EM has played 9 straight weeks without a BYE
and they are 6-21 ATS.

Have fun and play smart.  Build up today’s nest egg for tomorrow’s action.  Play on Players

TUESDAY’S “FREE” HOCKEY SELECTION!!!

October 21, 2008 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

After losing in a shootout with our first pick of the year, we are ready to jump right back into the fire with today’s top picks.  After starting the season 1-5, Anaheim starts a week long 4 game road trip in Toronto tonight.  Both Anaheim and Toronto are at the bottom of the league in scoring so far and Ron Wilson’s Maple Leafs’ are trying to adapt to his defensive, puck possession style of hockey.

P4P recommends:

Ana/Tor under 5 1/2 goals at -130

Toronto on the money line at +115

GOOD LUCK!!!

Monday Night, Are you ready for some Football? Well Player, are you?

October 20, 2008 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

It’s a crisp and clear Fall night in New England.  The fans there are pretending that last night’s Red Sox loss didn’t happen.  It was all Patriots gear throughout the region today as the fair weather has shifted to Football and the fanatic hopes that somehow the Pats are the same team they were for the first 2/3 of last season before they started to be exposed as old and not that good.  Tonight on Monday Night Football, 8:30 pm EST on ESPN, The Patriots are a 3 point favorite hosting the Denver Broncos, with the Vegas Experts posting the total number at 48.

After an extensive handicapping session over the weekend and into today the team here at Picks4Players feel that there is excellent opportunity tonight with the following recommendations:  Denver +3 and UNDER 48.  If you are looking for extra line value take the Broncos straight up at +125.

New England Fanatic Nation go ahead and get your Celtics gear out that you bought last year at Modell’s, it’s time to pretend you’ve been watching all the Celtics games for the past 15 years, all of this year’s pre season games and you can hardly wait until opening night.  You’ve still got the best team in the NBA, although losing James Posey will hurt. The Pats are going to continue to be mediocre and it is safe to say that their run as team of 6/10 of the decade is OVER!!!  It’s not just the leaves that are changing colors around the Northeast.

NFL Week #7- Picks4Players is like butter on a roll

October 19, 2008 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

Here are our top picks for NFL week 7:

Minnesota @ Chicago, 1pm est

Current Line: CHI -3

In this black and blue division match-up, we see a tough hard hitting battle.  With Chicago being at home and covering 6 of the last 7 v. the Vikings we see no other way to go.

Our Pick: Chicago -3

San Francisco @ NY Giants, 1pm est

Current Line: NY -10 ½

After pounding Seattle two weeks ago and then laying an egg against Cleveland on Monday night, we see the NY Giants rebounding well and we look for them to continue their dominance over the NFC West.  The Giants are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games..  Our Pick: NY Giants -10 ½

New Orleans @ Carolina, 1pm est

Current Line: CAR -3

New Orleans needs this game to get even with Carolina in the standings.  The visitor in this series has won 13 straight games and New Orleans has covered 11 of the last 12 as a divisional road underdog. Our Pick: NO +3

NY Jets @ Oakland, 4:15pm est

Current Line: NYJ -3

Oakland has been awful and we see no light at the end of the tunnel.  The Raiders are 2-9 ATS at home in their last 11 games. Our Pick: NYJ -3

Here are some other games of interest and the P4P opinions:

Indianapolis @ Green Bay, 4:15 est

Our Pick: Indy -2

Pittsburgh @ Cincinnati, 1pm est

Our Pick: Over 35 ½

Tennessee @ Kansas City, 1pm est

Our Pick: Under 35 ½

Seattle @ Tampa Bay, 8:15pm est

Our Pick: TB -10 ½

Enjoy another entertaining Sunday compliments of the National Football League and your team here at Picks4Players.  Play wise, play smart, play on Player.

NHL “SPECIAL”!!! THAT’S RIGHT….NHL

October 18, 2008 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

We have a great NHL handicapper on staff here at P4P and he is ready to make his first NHL selection of the year.  The key to making money on NHL games is to find value on the money line.  A team that is -175 or more on the money line doesn’t offer much in value and the risk is to much to make the bet worth your time.  So from time to time you will see an NHL selection from our NHL handicapper that will offer good betting value.

Minnesota @ Tampa Bay

Minnesota is playing without 2 major offensive cogs (Gaborik and Brouchard) in this matchup with Tampa.  We think Tampa’s firepower on the powerplay will be too much for Minnesota.  OUR PICK: TAMPA BAY -125 on the money line

It’s Baaaaaaaaaack: College Football Saturday ***Free Picks All Day Long***

October 18, 2008 by Crit Dahippo · Leave a Comment

Greetings Players and a Good Saturday Morning to you all.  We have just one question for you today, Who’s ready to make some cash?  You too.  Fantastic then.  Let’s get on with it, build a hefty nut today, and then spread said nut (not to be confused with Houston Nutt, who we’ll reference later) all over the NFL tomorrow.  This stacks up to be, on paper, the most profitable weekend to date this season.  Without further adieu (that’s French for ‘today already A-hole’) the handicapper’s team here at www.Picks4Players.com really likes the following selections:

The Nation’s new #1 team Texas hosts explosive Missouri coming off a disappointing loss last week to Oklahoma State.  That Mizzou loss was based largely on 3 uncharacteristic interceptions thrown by Chase Daniel deep inside OK State territory.  Texas meanwhile outlasted former #1 Oklahoma in a great shootout in Dallas.  The final was 45-35, and Texas overcame several early deficits and came up with a few big defensive stops late to seal the victory.  The line today is Texas -4.  The team here at P4P likes Chase Daniel to get back into the Heisman race with a huge game and to cover the number.  In fact take Missouri on the Money Line at +155 for extra value.  Our Pick: Missouri + 4

Alabama -13 hosting Ole Miss:  Alabama has been simply outstanding in year two of the Nick Saban era vaulting up to #2 in the country.  After taking his NFL pay day from the Dolphins, Saban has found his home with ‘Bama.  Ole Miss, on the other hand, battles every game and beat former # 1 Florida in the swamp a few weeks ago.  Mississippi’s strength is stopping the run which is exactly what Alabama excels at.  While we here at P4P thoroughly expect ‘Bama to win the game, this will be a close one that goes down to the wire.  Two trends that caught our eyes:  Alabama is 3-17 as a home favorite and as a road underdog Houston Nutt is 7-0 ATS.  Our Recommendation:  Mississippi + 13

Georgia -15 hosting Vanderbilt:  Vanderbilt always seems to play the Dawgs tough and today between the Hedges we expect more of the same.  Vandy has covered 8 of 9 as a double digit road underdog.            Our Recommendation:  Vandy + 15

South Carolina is a 3 point home underdog as the host LSU.  South Carolina’s QB situation is no longer Smelley, as they switch to new QB Stephen Garcia.  Garcia is playing well and SC has a talented group of wide outs. This will be a slug fest and will go down to the wire and the home dog has an excellent chance of winning this game outright.  Our Pick:  South Carolina +3

Michigan State +3 hosting Ohio State:  Our correspondent in Columbus has been able to parlay his on campus relationships into some insider intelligence.  As we all know, what comes right before Part B?  Well of course it’s Part A (partay), and it’s through this partying that Chris in Columbus has uncovered a significant amount of team dissension surrounding the QB spot for Ohio State.  The Buckeyes have given up more sacks than anyone in the Big 10.  Michigan State is solid and grinds away at their opponents week after week.  Look for Javon ‘tha’ Ringer to run all over Ohio State’s week defensive front.                           Our Pick:  Michigan State +3

Oregon State -16 at Washington:  A defense that has given up 44 points per game at home and no Jake Locker equals another long day for Ty Willingham and the Huskies.  Oregon State’s average margin of victory has been 22 ppg this season and look for the Beavers to pound the Huskies today.                        Our Pick is Oregon State -16

Other Games We Like here at Picks4Players:

Oklahoma -20 vs. Kansas

Penn State -24 vs. Michigan

Virginia Tech + 3 @ Boston College

Virginia + 4 vs. North Carolina

Utah -21 vs. Colorado State

Mississippi + 7 1/2 @ Tennessee

Iowa State + 7 vs. Nebraska

Georgia Tech -2 @ Clemson

That’s all for today.  Enjoy the action.  play smart, play wisely, play on Player.  Good Luck from the team at www.Picks4Players.com
