Super Bowl Sunday…..and it all comes down to this. No, not the Colts and Saints but Picks4Players versus Maddux Sports, an epic clash between the little guy and the Darth Vader of Sports Handicapping

Of the hundred plus participants in the NHB, the vast majority are pay for pick sites, NOT Picks4Players.  We never charge for our advice.  Our picks are always F.R.E.E - FREE and while we are extremely pleased that we’ve clinched second place in the 30th version of this prestigious event, make no mistake about it, we’ve got first place in our sights, and we feel VERY strongly about what will go down in Super Bowl XLIV in Miami when Drew Brees, Kim Kardashian’s Bush, and the rest of the upstart New Orleans Saints take on title starved Peyton Manning and the primed and polished Indianapolis Colts, led by first year head coach, ‘Ol What’s His name.  Actually, Coach Caldwell may finally be a suitable answer to that decades old cajun question, Who Dat? As in, Who dat coaching da Colts?  I think we all know that Peyton Manning is coaching the Colts, but Jim Caldwell will be the guy standing on the Colts sidelines with the headset on and his red flag at the ready.  

Kick off is slated for 6:25 pm EST and Las Vegas has set the line at the Colts - 5 1/2 with an OVER/UNDER point TOTAL of 57.  As mentioned above, your team here at P4P feels VERY strong about the game today.  After much research, dialogue, discussion, argument, and technical breakdown of personnel, we are so COnfident about what wilL go down Today  ATS (against the spread)  that we will once again, as promised, be giving our selection away for FREE.  

This game will be one of the most exciting Super Bowls of all time.  Peyton Manning is a QB genius and as football fans we are lucky that he plays now.  He is clearly one of the best of all time and his fine tuned, precise offense will move the ball up and down the field today on the Saints.  The Saints will also move the ball at will against the Colts and if Dwight Freeney is not 100%, his explosiveness off the snap of the ball and his ability to get around the edge and pressure Drew Brees will be limited.  While we are certain which way this game will go against the spread (ATS), our lock of the day in Super Bowl XLIV is OVER 57.

As our loyal followers know, we aim to please. You overloaded our server. We were listening and we heard you loud and clear.  Making his return engagement, and through his agent agreeing in principle to a multi-week contract with Picks4Players, is none other than Myth Busters frequent guest contributor and the show’s resident explosives expert Sergeant JD Nelson, aka JD, aka Clark, but best known as Sergeant C4.  C4 will be delivering his fireworks show via www.Picks4Players.com every Thursday for the remainder of the NFL season and playoffs.  C4 specifically requested Thursdays so he could help protect and serve all the players out there. Miami +3 at Carolina. I’m not sold on Miami and Carolina keeps winning: Carolina -3
 
Cleveland +3 1/2 at Detroit.  At least Detroit can score: Detroit -3 1/2
 
Buffalo +9 at Jacksonville. Jacksonville keeps winning and Buffalo has the curse of T.O. Jacksonwille -9
 
Pittsburgh -10 at KC.  Pittsburgh should be in full pissed off mode: Pittsburgh -10
 
Indy -1 at Baltimore. I don’t think Indy will go undefeated but they’ll beat Baltimore. Indianapolis -1
 
Atlanta + 6 1/2 at NYG. Hoo boy- two teams that are hard to predict: Giants - 6 1/2
 
SF + 6 at GB. Alex Smith hasn’t proven he can will consistantly: Green Bay - 6
 
Seattle + 11 at Minnesota. Brett Farve has…. Minnesota - 11
 
Washington +12 at Dallas. Washington has life, Dallas should be pissed. Good rivalry game where Dallas wins….but not by 12..Washington + 12.
 
New Orleans - 11 1/2 at Tampa Bay. Does New Orleans ever cover?  Tampa Bay +11 1/2
 
Arizona - 9 1/2 at St Louis. Warner is back the the STL…Arizona - 9 1/2
 
Jets = 10 1/2 at New England. Provided the Pats don’t go on 4th and 2 all game I’d take the Patriots.  Patriots - 10 1/2
 
Cincinnati - 9 1/2 at Oakland. I thought the spread would be 17, so it’s a bargain at 9.5! Cincinnati - 9 1/2
 
San Diego at Denver -NO LINE. San Diego is hotter right now… Chargers
 
Philly - 2 at Chicago. The Bears are who we thought they were!  Philly -2
 
Tennessee + 4 1/2 at Houston. The Titans are rolling! Tennessee + 4 1/2

HOCKEY ….and now here is G$’s NHL pick o’ the day. Columbus +115 @ Dallas. Dallas is playing back-to-back nights coming off a hard fought win @ Detroit last night. Columbus on the road is a respectable 5-4 while Dallas at home is only a .500 team.

COLLEGE HOOPS….and here is  Crit ‘ The Greek’ Hippo’s NCAA College Basketball play o’ the day: Cal travels to NYC  to  play against Syracuse in the Gahden.  Cal is favored by 1 1/2.  Jim Boeheim tends to recruit some knuckleheads and punks, but they won’t be punk’d in this nationally televised game in their backyard.  Syracuse should be in their customary 2-3 zone forcing Cal to bomb away from the perimeter.  Cal was one of the best 3-point  shooting teams in the nation last year and tonight they will have no problem taking the 3-ball, making them could be another story.  Syracuse will constantly have a hand in the Cal shooters’ face and they will own the defensive glass.  Cal will take their role of favorite and in typi-CAL fashion they will not get it done.  Take Syracuse + 1 1/2.

Pre Football Friday Cy Young Special & Red Sox-Yankees

Greetings Players, one and all.

To start the weekend off positively, a unique Baseball opportunity play is here tonight. An opportunity that we just want to touch on before we head back into our virtual ‘war room’ to resume researching and dissecting this weekend’s NCAA College and NFL pro football action.

Tonight there are at least 5 former Cy Young Award winners that will be on the mound tonight for their respective teams as follows:
Cliff Lee @ Milwaukee (Lee has been nothing short of dominant for the Phils)
Chris Carpenter @ Colorado (Sorry Tracy Ringolsby but the Rox are tightening up)
Roy Halladay vs. Seattle(Seattle starts rookie Doug ‘don’t call me price’ Fister.)
Jake Peavy vs. Detroit (Detroit goes with September call up Scrubby Bonine)
Tim Lincecum vs. Chicago (NL) (Lincecum is the real deal, the Giants desperate)

If you were to parlay those five and if all were to start the game with their team winning, based on my calculations, the Vegas payout would be approximately 10:1. 10:1 for 5 dominating pitchers. Book it, but be prepared to pull a late hedge on the last game of the night, the Giants and Cubs at 10:15 EST.

The other game of note tonight is the Friday night rumble in the Bronx which features John Lester and the visiting Red Sox facing Joba ‘doesn’t rule’ Chamberlain and the mighty Yankees. This game tonight is a parlay lock if you are so inclined.

First off, the Yankees ‘plan’ with Joba Chamberlain is a joke. Way to prepare this tool to be a softy who will be virtually incapable of pitching out of jams as his career goes on. He should pitch every fifth day, deep into every start so he can work his way to MLB productivity. If he gets shelled, then fortunately you have the offense to claw back into any game in a hurry.

As far as the Red Sox go, the absolutely ridiculous debate about Jason Varitek leaving Boston’s pine is hard to fathom. Victor Martinez is clearly much better than you Tek. Quite frankly all of the credit you’ve been given in the past for being such a ‘great handler of pitchers’ has to come into question, along the lines of ‘Rocking’ Leo Mazzone and all the credit he got for developing Maddux, Smoltz, and Glavine. Great job Jason catching Josh Beckett in his prime and as much as it nauseates me to write, future Hall of Famer, ‘Ketchup Sock Curt’ Schilling. Yet you couldn’t quite get around to learning how to catch another future Hall of Famer Tim Wakefield. Don’t even get me started on your contract situation last off-season with you and Scott Boras dropping the $ 10,000,000 option ball and you needing to swallow your pride and beg back to bean-town. I’m not sure which is worse, your decision-making, your bat, or your recent run of dropped third strikes. No matter, the fact that Josh Beckett has all but admitted that he can’t pitch to anyone but you is not as much of a positive reflection on you as it a direct reflection of what a head case Boston’s former staff Ace is.

Now back to the action on the field. As mentioned above, tonight’s game presents a great opportunity for a parlay lock. Lester is the Red Sox staff Ace. He can be downright nasty, but the Yankees will touch him up a bit. Joba Chamberlain, at this point, is nothing more than a coddled, over emotional batting practice pitcher. The Red Sox are hungry and will light up Joba like a Christmas tree. If you are feeling lucky, your team at P4P recommends OVER 9 runs and the Red Sox.
